An education system that fosters students’ identity, language and culture, and ensure a sustainable presence by analysing the past, present and the future. Students who can participate as successful citizens of the 21st Century.

Meet Cheryl Mitchell

Chief Executive Officer

 

BSc (Hons), MRes, PGCE (Open), PGCert (DCL), MRSB, MRSC, MRSNZ, EdD student (Waikato)

 

Cheryl has been an educator for 13 years, having previously worked in the Pharmaceutical Industry. Trained as a Secondary Science teacher, she has worked in the UK and NZ and has taught students ranging from year 7 to year 13. During the last four years Cheryl spent her time teaching year 11 to 13 students using sustainability-themed STEM projects to gain their Level 1,2 and 3 NCEA credits. These credits were achieved from completion of projects rather than the traditional model of learning and assessment. As well as being the CEO of InterruptED Cheryl is currently completing her EdD thesis at the University of Waikato where she is investigating “How can a sustainability-themed STEM project encourage more Māori women into the field”.

Goal 1

Enabling educators to change practice to encompass the diverse needs of all students in a 21st Century context. Creating more agency and authenticity in students’ learning.

Goal 2

Changing schools into community hubs and enabling partnerships to create educational and employment opportunities.

Goal 3

Ensuring all students become Self-directed, Empathetic, Inclusive, Innovative and Collaborative Problem Solvers.
